Saraki’s Office Denies Bulletproof Range Rover For Senate Cost N298m

The Office of the Senate President on Tuesday denied claims that the bulletproof Range Rover SUV, said to have been impounded by the Nigeria Customs over import duty waiver, is worth N298 million.

Customs’ insistence on the payment of full duty on the SUV was alleged to be why the Senate, for which it was meant, is retaliating against the Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali, who had been summoned to appear before the Senate in Customs uniform.

But noting that several news publications have wrongly reported the cost of the vehicle, the SLA
Communications & Strategy in the Office of the Senate President, Olu Onemola put the value of the Range Rover to be between the range of N58 million to N62million.

This was contained in a statement which read in part, “the value of the car as specified by all related documents is $298,000, which makes it in the range of N58 million to N62million (based on 2015 exchange rates).

“This makes the inaccurate figure N240million over the actual value of the car”.
